Part Time Students in Higher Education: Issues of Integration, Support and Retention.

A one-day Conference to be held at Nottingham University's Jubilee Campus.

This popular conference was first held at Birkbeck University in February 2008. Due to the level of interest that event attracted, the UALL Student Support Network is pleased to offer a similar conference on 11 November at Nottingham University's Jubilee Campus. The workshops that were available in February are also offered at this event, although the keynote speakers are Sue Webb (University of Sheffield) and Geoff Layer (University of Bradford), both of whom will create a slightly focus to this conference.

Delegates who attended in February are welcome to join us again to participate in a different workshop.

Keynote Speakers:

Sue Webb, Director of the Institute for Lifelong Learning at the University of Sheffield
Geoff Layer, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) at the University of Bradford

Workshops:
  • Recovering the student voice: how our students feel about pre-entry and term one.
  • Beyond Skills?: Designing an accredited first term module to introduce part time students to the concept and practice of “lifelong learning”
  • Student Support and Retention: how to reach out and engage
  • Transition to Higher Education: improving retention and progression in the first year
  • Supporting Student Transition: how to effectively manage the process

The Conference will take place:

On: Thursday 11 November2008
At: University of Nottingham, Jubilee Campus
