UALL International Network

Background

This International Network of UALL offers a platform to form links, partnerships and collaborative networks across the globe to support and develop lifelong learning. UALL has already developed strong links with similar lifelong learning and continuing education networks in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, China, Turkey and other European Countries. UALL has also an interest in lifelong learning in the developing world and our annual conference has often attracted individuals from these countries. Each year, the annual conference includes a speaker’s panel at the UALL annual conference. They have become increasingly popular and noted for their stimulating and challenging dialogue and debate around global education issues of concern to us all.

Aims of the Network

The UALL international network is seeking to:

  • Provide a global context to the work of UALL UK
  • Compare, share and learn from lifelong learning practices in the UK and in the global context.
  • Develop a better understanding of the needs of lifelong learning students studying and preparing for work in a global society.
  • Develop a better understanding of the needs of lifelong learning students coming to study in the UK from other countries.
  • Enhance the international development of innovative curricula, partnerships, collaborative research, consultancy and knowledge transfer.

Areas of Work

The network has a responsibility for:

  • Developing appropriate activities for members including workshops and online discussions
  • Organizing the international panel speakers for the annual conference
  • Advising on the UALL annual conference award for an outstanding contribution to the international dimension in university lifelong learning
  • Providing advice to other UALL networks on international issues.
  • Provide an overview of current practice and events of global interest
  • Promoting research and consultancy as appropriate

Meetings

The Network meets approximately 4 times per year to include meetings at the UALL Annual Conference and the UALL Annual General Meeting plus two further meetings /events as required. There is also provision for online seminars on topics of special interest for members.

The network is open to UALL members.
