2015 UALL Annual Conference - Update And Book Launch

Posted in Government on by Admin

The Conference is now rapidly approaching and the final details of the planning are fitting into place.  I am very pleased to let you know that we will have a Book Launch at the Drinks Reception before the Conference Dinner on the Thursday evening.  I can also now confirm that we have as our keynote speaker, Professor Craig Mahoney, Principal and Vice Chancellor, University of the West of Scotland, who will be giving his perspective on the Community University.  For details see the updated Conference Programme.

The Conference will start on the Wednesday evening with a Civic Reception at Glasgow City Chambers at which we welcome all our delegates, international members and guests to Glasgow.  This will be followed by two days conference and will finish on Friday with lunch.  The Drinks Reception and Conference Dinner will be held on the Thursday evening at the stylish House for an Art Lover, which was designed by Rennie Mackintosh.  At the Dinner there will be the 'UALL Awards Ceremony' where we make the UALL Award for 2015.

We have international interest in the Conference, and a number of delegates already confirmed, including from our sister associations UPCEA (USA), EUCEN (Europe) and CAUCE (Canada). Following the success of 2014 we have arranged another International Panel for Friday morning.  Each year we introduce a new feature to the Conference, and for 2015 we have a new session presenting lifelong learning projects at Glasgow University. These include mid-career workplace learning, learning cities, provision in Russia, and university regional engagement.

There is a lot of interest in the Conference and, therefore it promises to be a rewarding event.  If you haven't already registered, please do so as soon as you can - as I am now being asked to provide numbers by the University of Strathclyde.  To register, please complete the Online Form
