Public or Private: Who Pays for Higher Education?
Peter Scott, Professor of Higher Education Studies at the Institute of Education, writes in The Guardian on the 2 July that neither the private sector nor the state want to pay for Higher Education: the economy, business and industry benefit from a thriving university sector, so who should pay? Whilst The Browne report on fees and funding promoted the idea that a sustainable higher education system would be created, this seems far from the case in reality. The full text can be found here.
