UALL 2014 ANNUAL CONFERENCE - UPDATE AND FURTHER DETAILS
UALL 2014 Annual Conference – Update
University of London
Transforming pedagogy? Flexible learning, teaching and innovation in the 21st century
9th to 11th April
We are pleased to bring you up to date with the preparations and arrangements for our Annual Conference; the Drinks Reception, Book Launch and Conference Dinner will now be held at The Grand Connaught Rooms. The drinks reception will be in the Crown Room, and the Conference Dinner in the Cornwall Room. We have also been offered their top menu - engagingly known as the 'Titanic Menu'.
We have international interest in the Conference, and a number of delegates already confirmed, including from our sister associations UPCEA (USA) and CAUCE (Canada). Following the success of 2013 we have arranged another International Panel for Friday morning. Our keynote speakers are now confirmed: Professor Diana Laurillard, and Professor Penny Jane Burke, and Dr Alison Le Cornu from the Higher Education Academy (HEA). The HEA are, incidentally, interested in working with UALL on the lifelong learning dimensions of flexible pedagogy.
We have received a very good response indeed to the Call for Papers. These reveal the wide range of approaches to, and reflections in, the pedagogical dimensions of the Conference theme. We have also had a number of requests for inclusion in what we hope will be the publication of selected papers in a special issue of the HEA journal Enhancing Learning in the Social Sciences (ELISS), or if relevant another HEA journal. If you would like to propose your paper for inclusion, and haven't done so already, please write to the UALL Editor, Professor Bill Jones, copied to Lucy Bate. We will then send requirements – word length, style, etc. The deadline for copy will be 31st March 2014. Publication will be in the Autumn of 2014, and so we will need copy for editing by the time of the Conference.
We have our customary book launch at the Conference, and also at the Dinner there will be the 'UALL Awards Ceremony' where we make the UALL Award for 2014. We have an excellent shortlist of submissions for the Award.

The Annual Conference is the flagship event of the UALL year. The theme of Transforming Pedagogy is arousing much interest, and the London location, together with the Wednesday and Thursday evening buffet and Dinner, adds many attractions to the academic programme.
We very much look forward to seeing you in London.
